I just downloaded Goldwave today, and I'm trying to learn how to merge files and things like that. However, I don't know how to start the recorder. Does any one know how to do that?

Or rather, how would you record files and have sounds in the background? I've tried doing that, but haven't succeeded at that yet with Goldwave. I've learned how to record my own voice, but the problem is learning how to set up recordings that have background sounds.

I never really found out how to start recording with it, which was kind of annoying.

Well, to start recording with it, you press control f9, and to stop, control f8.

I happen to really like Goldwave. I've been using it on and off for about five years. The problem I'm currently having is figuring out how to record something directly from the sound card in Windows Vista. I'm planning to do a review of the latest Beta of USA Games' Tomb Hunter. Problem is I want it to record in stereo, the best way being to have Gold Wave or whatever audio editor I use record directly from the sound card, then have the microphone plugged in to record my commentary. In the past I had problems with the game being louder than my voice. But now that I'm using Vista I can't even figure out how to get the sound card or whatever to show up as a recording device.

I have read in a lot of posts that windows vista does not support recording from the sound card. I have tried to do it myself since I want to get back to singing but I can not seem to do it. I wish I had XP again

Hopefully Windows 7 will have better support for that.

Just one more reason to hate Vista. And I can't even afford to upgrade at the moment. Grrr!
